Do kids pay attention to this stuff? I think by the time they pay attention to that stuff they're at a development where it doesn't really influence them anyway.they'll do what they want movie or no movie. Maybe it's because I'm a lot more open minded than normal people and when I was little I never noticed things like that. I don't know I mean it seems like just an outfit that is appropriate for the hot desert. I guess you're talking about outfits like Princess Jasmine. My first crush was 10 and this was considering I was behind in puberty and things like that (or things in general). I mean there's kissing sure but I'm sure plenty of young girls think about love/boys in some sense.
Maybe I missed something and some of them aren't just about love. I don't see any sexual stories in the classic Disney movies just about love in general. One day their parents won't be there to help them. The whole point of Disney is to try and inspire kids that they can do anything they set their mind to. I guess you are looking for more premiere movies where the parents are a big part of the storyline but it's not the parent's journey.

There's also a few Disney Channel original movies that probably have parents as well and I'm confident if we extend it to the series we will find plenty with both parents. Parent Trap is a really good one either the remake or the original.
Nala advises Simba so she definitely has a part in Kiara's upbringing that you can see. It might be centered more on the dogs but I believe the boy can be considered one of the main characters.
You might not see much of the mom but she IS there. Hercules.then again he is a god so maybe that doesn't count. I'm doing this from memory or from my library Ummm, I don't know.Īnd why do so many of the Disney stories have to be such salacious love stories? These movies are aimed at 7 year old girls. Can anyone think of ONE Disney movie where the main character has two living parents throughout the entire movie? It seems mostly there's a beautiful young woman, and mom is dead (or who knows where she went, moms don't seem to get killed off while we watch, just dads) and so it's just Daddy and the young very sexy daughter. I think we were all traumatized by Bambi. Where are Cinderella's parents? Where is Belle's mother? The Little Mermaid's mother? (There's something I find uncomfortable about the Little Mermaid's relationship with her father, I don't know exactly what). Do they need to be the ideal exaggerated perfection woman's body, clad usually pretty scantily? I am very concerned about the very sexualized Disney heroines. My bigger concern about the Disney movies isn't subliminal at all - it's the actual plot.Ĭan anyone think of a single Disney movie where the main young character had two living parents? Maybe at the beginning, but one parent will be killed off fairly quickly and usually while the child watches or even more horribly, because of something the child did. I really don't see a lot of the stuff - especially the word "sex" all over the place. I watched most of the video above and found it interesting.
